Good Morning Friday People! How do you do?
So it's been a while since I've written something on here that wasn't just a collection of lust-worthy pictures of other people's houses. I'll tell you what folks, running a shop is a busy business! It's been just over five months since we moved into our physical shop space and truly, it's been a treat. We've learnt so much about our company; its relationships, its purpose, what we do well and what we want to improve, (not to mention the big steps I've taken in my packed lunch game).
January and February have given us a little time to reflect, and something that I've really missed is taking time over this website. It's such a millennial privilege to have this creative space at our fingertips; it really feels like a waste not to use it to its full advantage. So in this spirit I'm going to try and take a little time each month away from the admin, and write down something creative.
I'm not saying it's going to be Shakespeare (see: that lazy metaphor), but writing is a craft I spent my degree years studying (and take a great deal of joy in). My humble ambition is that it will be a more rewarding employment of your time than watching Ava Ryan vines or Maru the cat getting in boxes (both of which I consider to be icons of our time/my spirit animals).
So often the voices that are telling you that you're too busy to create are the same ones that are actually scared of how your work will be perceived. Well, I made only one New Year's Resolution this January: Fuck it. I have no time for those voices. Better to be creating nonsense than not to create at all. In the words of queen Maya, 'You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have'.
My intention is to be a creativity packhorse when this year is through.
Sit tight, readers. Over and out.
